Accessibility
Updated November 7, 2026. We want What's My Soil to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site is built that way from the start rather than with an add-on widget, because overlays and widgets do not fix the underlying page.
What we do
- Pages use real headings, landmarks and lists, so screen readers can navigate by structure.
- Every feature, including the lookup, works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Text and controls are designed to meet WCAG contrast ratios, and text can be enlarged with your browser's zoom without breaking the layout.
- Data tables use header cells so screen readers can announce which column and row a number belongs to.
- Where a page uses a map or chart, the same places or figures are also given as text, and decorative images have empty alt text so they are skipped.
- The site does not autoplay sound or video and has no time limits.
Adjusting the display
Your browser and device already offer more control than any widget could: zoom (Ctrl and + on Windows, Command and + on Mac), larger default text, high-contrast and dark modes, and built-in screen readers (Narrator, VoiceOver, TalkBack). The site follows those settings.
Known limitations
Some pages carry long data tables, which can be slow to read with a screen reader. If you find a page or feature that does not work for you, we want to know.

Please write to us with the page address and what went wrong, and we will work on a fix:
