The data comes from these sources, which own and maintain it:

• USDA NRCS Soil Survey Geographic Database (SSURGO), via Soil Data Access (public domain)
• U.S. Census Bureau county population estimates (public domain)
• U.S. Census Bureau ZIP Code Tabulation Areas and relationship files (public domain)

Source data can contain errors, gaps and delays, and we may make mistakes in processing it. We describe our method on the site so you can judge the numbers. The site is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency or the organizations that publish the data.
